Some facts about St Valentine:
St Valentine is the Roman Christian saint, who is associated with romance and love, he is the Patron saint of engaged couples and happy marriages, as well as beekeepers, epilepsy ... and the plague.

"Valentine" comes from Latin and means "worthy, strong and powerful", it is thought to have worn an amethyst ring engraved with cupid.

And he died February 14th in 269 AD., having fallen in love with his jailer's daughter and sent her a love letter prior to his beheading signed "From your Valentine" and was executed by Emperor Claudius II for performing weddings in secret.
Some facts about Valentine's Day:
Valentine's Day has been celebrated for over 200 years. Traditionally young lovers gave gifts and handwritten letters to express love, with the first Valentine's Day card being sent in 1415 from the Duke of Orleans to his wife when prisoner in Tower of London.
